ORDER:-

   In the G.O. first read above, the Government have issued orders designating the TRB as a Nodal Agency for conducting of Teacher Eligibility Test for the recruitment of Secondary Grade Teachers and Graduate Assistants.

   2. In the G.O. Second read above, the Government have issued orders for the recruitment of Secondary Grade Teachers and Graduate Assistants by Conducting the Teacher Eligibility Test. It was also ordered that the qualifying candidates of the Teacher Eligibility Test will be recruited based on marks, Communal rotation and Certificate Verification. However, with respect to the recruitment of Secondary Grade Teachers, the state-wide seniority in employment exchange registration will be continued till the disposal of the Special Leave Petition filed in the Supreme Court.

   3. In the G.O third read above, the Government have issued orders to conduct the Teacher Eligibility Test on 12.07.2012 for the recruitment of Secondary Grade Teachers and Graduate Assistants by the Teachers Recruitment Board. The Government further directs the Teachers Recruitment Board, to conduct another Teacher Eligibility Test for those candidates, who have not obtained 60% marks, and the Teacher Eligibility Test to be held before the end of October 2012.

   4. In the G.O fourth read above, the Government constituted a committee for selection of candidates who have cleared the Teacher Eligibility Test for appointment to the post of Secondary Grade Teachers and B.T. Assistants and other related issues under the Chairmanship of Hon’ble Minister for School Education, Sports and Youth Welfare with the following members.

   5. In the Judgement fifth read above, the Hon’ble High Court directed as follows:-

   “So far as the candidates who possess the Teacher Eligibility Certificate are concerned, after receipt of the recommendations of the Committee constituted (vide G.O.(2D).No.36, School Education Department, dated 14.09.2012) selection and appointment shall be made as per the criteria to be fixed by the Committee.”

   6. In order to provide quality education to the children in Tamil Nadu and considering the need to filling up of vacant teachers post, the committee in its meeting held on 14.09.2012 and 24.09.2012, unanimously decided to recommend to the Government to adopt the modalities by giving weightage of marks for their academic qualification in 12th Standard, DEEd., Degree, B.Ed. and TET for selection and appointment of Secondary Grade Teachers and Graduate Assistants.

   7. The Government have examined the recommendation of the Committee and decided to accept the same. They accordingly direct the Teachers Recruitment Board to adopt the following modalities by giving weightage of marks for selection and appointment of Secondary Grade Teachers and Graduate Assistants.

Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test Weightage For Secondary Grade Teachers

   (a) There shall be 100 marks in total as full marks

   (b) The computation of 100 marks will be in the following manner 

(i) Higher Secondary Exam	15 marks
(ii) D.T.Ed., / D.E.Ed., Exam	25 marks
(iii) Teacher Eligibility Test	60 marks

(C) Marks shall be given for item (i) (ii) and (iii) of clause (b) in the manner mentioned hereunder

CHENNAI: The Madras high court has issued notice to the state government on a public interest petition seeking relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ST and physically disabled candidates in the Tamil Nadu Teachers Eligibility Test for selection of BT assistant and secondary grade teachers in the state.

The first bench comprising Chief Justice M Y Eqbal and Justice T S Sivagnanam, issued the notice and said the selection of candidates to these posts would be subject to the outcome of the PIL, after advocate M Palanimuthu submitted that the authorities had not released category-wise figures of successful candidates.

Citing an April 1, 2011 communication from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Palanimuthu said the NCTE recommended relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ST and disabled candidates. Though Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan relaxed 10% and 5% respectively, Tamil Nadu government did not extend any such facility, he said. If such a provision was made, several SC/ST, disabled candidates would benefit, he said

TNTET Trichy : Sudden counselling troubles aspiring teachers in Trichy

TRICHY: The online counselling for the Bachelor of Teaching (BT) assistant posts in Trichy held on Sunday left many candidates inconvenienced. The candidates did not receive the call letter but got the information through a television channel.

The Directorate of School Education, Chennai had sent a notice to all the chief educational officers on December 7 to conduct the counselling on December 9 in all the districts. The counseling was for the candidates who cleared Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) conducted on October 14, 2012. The TNET result was declared in November and the selected candidates were awaiting their appointment.


Since the duration for sending the call letters to the selected candidates for the online counseling in their respective districts was short, an announcement about the date and venue was flashed on Jaya TV from December 7. Meanwhile, call letters had been dispatched from Trichy to the 318 Trichy-based eligible candidates on Saturday evening. However, most candidates came to know about the counselling through the television advertisement.

Another round of counselling will be held on December 10 for those who could not find vacancy in Trichy district. They would be offered jobs in other districts. "This short period notice troubled us a lot. What if the selected candidates were out of town, they would have not been able to attend the counseling thereby missing out a good opportunity," said Dr TK Lawrence, a relative of a woman who had come for the counselling held at Government higher secondary school in Trichy.

However, an education department official said that as the state-wide function for issuing the appointment orders to the selected candidates, through the chief minister J Jayalalithaa, had been recently re-scheduled for December 13, the counseling was conducted in a hurry.

The Teacher Recruitment Board (TRB) on Tuesday announced that 9,664 candidates have been selected for the post of secondary-grade teachers, and 8,718 for the post of graduate assistants.

The selections have been made based on the results of the Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TET).

Over 6 lakh candidates from across the State appeared for the first TET in July, but the test had to be conducted a second time, due to the poor performance of candidates the first time around. TRB needed to fill around 7,500 vacancies of secondary-grade teachers, and close to 20,500 vacancies of graduate assistants.

The selected candidates will be the first set of teachers to be recruited in the State through the TET, which is mandated by the Right to Education Act, 2009. The individual results of candidates will be announced on Wednesday.

According to an official, secondary-grade teachers, who will handle classes I to V have been recruited based on TET scores and employment seniority, as a verdict on a special leave petition by the government is pending in the Supreme Court at present.

Graduate assistants who will handle classes VI to VIII however, have been recruited based on the recently-announced weightage system, where higher secondary, degree, B.Ed and TET marks are taken into account.

TRB data revealed that 820 candidates were rendered ineligible after the certification-verification stage.


The next TET will be conducted in July, an official said.

In a shocking statement on the quality of the future generation of teachers, less than 3 per cent of those who took the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) have passed.

Results released by the state teachers' recruitment board (TRB) on Friday show that only about 19,200 (2.93 per cent) of the 6.56 lakh candidates who took the test in October got through.

Diehard optimists can, however, take cheer that the performance this time is “hugely better“ than the less than 1 per cent scored by the TET candidates in the previous test held in July. That shocking result had led the state government to direct the TRB to hold a re-examination, resulting in the October exercise. “The candidates have fared terribly. We must be very worried about the quality of the graduates coming into the teaching profession. It appears that many are straying into this area after getting rejected in other careers,“ said Shanthi, an administrator of a private school.

Rajesh, a secondary gr ade teacher aspirant who took mathematics, said that the papers were not difficult, except for Tamil.

“Most of the teachers who took the examination felt it to be relatively easy compared to their previous attempt,“ said Rajesh.

CHENNAI: Seniority is no longer the criterion for getting a job as a primary or high school teacher. A new state government order gives weightage for marks secured in school and college for recruitment as a teacher.

For years, the government recruited school teachers through the employment exchange that works on a first-come-first-served basis. In the event of more than one candidate having the same marks, selection will be based on the date of birth, where the older person will be given priority. The government says the change was done "to provide quality education to the children in Tamil Nadu and considering the need to fill up vacant teachers' posts."


A high-level committee with school education minister N R Sivapathy as chairman and school education secretary D Sabitha, Teachers Recruitment Board chairman Surjit Chaudhary and school education director K Devarajan as members, met on September 14 and 24 and recommended to the government to adopt the modalities by giving weightage of marks in Class 12, DEEd, degree, BEd and the teacher eligibility test for selection and appointment of secondary grade teachers and graduate assistants.

A GO, dated October 5, said the government examined the recommendations and decided to accept it. Now, for recruitment of secondary grade teachers, Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) scores will account for 60%, DTEd or DEEd exam marks 25% and higher secondary board exam marks 15%. For graduate assistants, TNTET scores will account for 60%, BEd exam scores 15%, degree aggregate 15% and higher secondary board exam scores 10%.

Teachers associations are not happy. "The TET is unnecessary. It is only mandated in states that recruit unqualified candidates as para teachers. A state like Tamil Nadu which only recruits teachers who have undergone teacher training need not follow the rule," said Tamil Nadu Primary School Teachers' Federation president T Kannan. Others said this dashed the hopes of those who had registered with the employment exchange more than a decade ago with hopes of getting a government job.

Educationist S S Rajagopalan said academic excellence did not vouch for good classroom management or good character of teachers. "A teacher grows on the job. No one's born a teacher. A candidate must analyse successes and failures and learn from experience," he said. Others felt subject content could not be learnt on the job.

Many private schools recruit teachers by asking them to take a demo and then get students' feedback about how well the teacher was able to communicate. When the government is recruiting more than 1,000 teachers at a time this is not possible. The next best thing is academic excellence, felt academics. "It's a very interesting way for even private schools to think of recruitment," said correspondent of Shree Niketan Group of Schools P Vishnucharan

And Government job is provided through seniority in employment exchange registration date i.e First cum First basis.

I heard many years before even Central Excise & Customs Inspector, Income Tax inspector (Central Govt. ) type Jobs also be provided through such employment exchange seniority. And I don't this practice still exist OR not.

However, In many states employment exchange losses its reputation, And very few (if provided) jobs are provided.

In ONLINE ere, I feel all over India's employment exchange should be ONLINE/website based. And transparency / updates should be made on website.
Many people in India don't know , when jobs are available and when they are fill up.

Several candidates were unsure of what to expect in the supplementary examination of the Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) held on Sunday.

S. Janaki was one of the 41,120 candidates who wrote the examination in Chennai. She, like many others whose spirits were dampened after the first TET in July, did not come out disappointed this time.

R. Senthamarai, who attempted Paper I, meant for those intending to teach classes I to V, was relieved that she was able to complete the paper.

“I even had time to recheck the answers. Unlike the first TET, the difficulty level in the mathematics section had come down. However, some questions in the child development and pedagogy section were unclear,” she said.

In July, the difficulty level of the mathematics questions, insufficient time to work out sums and long-winded questions in English in the first TET were among the principal problems which candidates pointed out. J. Sheeba, though unsure of her chances of making it for recruitment based on the new criteria said that as far as the paper was concerned, she performed significantly better this time around. “We had time to read the questions in English and answer them. I had also prepared harder this time,” she said.

While candidates who wrote Paper I had mixed feelings about the difficulty levels, most who wrote Paper II in the afternoon — meant for those seeking appointment in classes XI and XII — said that they were hopeful of scoring a handsome mark.

“I am a Tamil major and found English a little difficult. But, I did the rest of the paper well and hope to score over 100 in the 150 mark paper,” said T. Saraswathi. Mary Francisca, echoing the views of several others said that Tamil was especially tough in Paper II. Visually-impaired candidates who were not awarded additional time in July’s exam also said that they were able to complete the paper. P. Sasikala and P. Radha who are currently pursuing her Masters said that they had good scribes, sufficient time, and a reasonably easy paper to answer.

But, there were also several like S. Rajendran who was upset that seniority has been scrapped as a criteria and higher secondary examination marks been brought into the equation. He said that he has been a teacher for over a decade “I wrote Paper II last time as well, but taking class XII marks into account will only put those like us at a disadvantage. We also have to score above 90 per cent in the examination to get the 60 per cent weightage,” he said, like several others who have over a decade of experience, and felt that they were unfairly been put at par with those who have graduated recently.

However, according to the chief educational officer’s office there were as many as 8,339 absentees across the 85 centres in Chennai district. Around 20,043 new candidates and over six lakh candidates who did not clear the first TET held in July were expected to appear for Sunday’s supplementary examination across the state according to the TRB.

The examination has been mandated under the Right to Education Act for appointment of teachers for classes I to VIII post August 23, 2010 and TRB was appointed a nodal agency to conduct the examination in the State

CHENNAI: In a welcome relief to several thousand teacher aspirantswhofailedin the mandatory Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) on July 12, the state government has said the supplementary test would be held on October 14 instead of October 3, and that all eligible candidates , including those who did not apply earlier ,couldwriteit . 
A submission to this effect was made in the Madras high court by additional advocategeneral P H Aravindpandian on Friday ,when a batchof writ petitions came up for hearing beforeJustice S Nagamuthu . 
Appreciating the state government's stand and the efforts of Aravindpandian , the judge asked the authorities to give wide publicity to the fact that thosewhocould not apply for the last examination could send in their application between September 24 and 28. 
It all started with the introduction of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 as per which all teacherstobe recruitedin future should have passed the TET. In Tamil Nadu , the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) was named as the nodal agency to conduct the TET, which shall be conducted atleastonce a year . 
Results of the TET conductedon July 12was a rudeshockto several thousand candidates , as only 2,448 out of the 6.77 lakh candidates who wrote the examination scored the minimum pass percentage of 60 . The government had intended to select 26 ,116 candidates through the TET and appoint them in schools. Following a public uproar and demands from various sections , the state agreed to conduct a supplementary teston October 3.But,it restricted the supplementary test only to the unsuccessful candidates . Dubbing it as discriminatory ,several people moved the high court . A writ petition filed by one Vijayaraj opposed appointment of the 2,448 successful candidates , as TET was only a qualifying test. On Friday , the TRB chairman filed two affidavits . One affidavit informedthe court of the postponement of the test from October 3 to October 14. The other affidavit said a government order had been issued to form a panel to decide on the selection norms and process

CTET Advertisement Specified that - Candidates can re appear in exam to improve score

11.2 There is no restriction on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring a CTET Certificate. A person who has qualified CTET may also appear again for improving his/her score.

Frequency of conduct of TET and validity period of TET certificate :-

11 The appropriate Government should conduct a TET at least once every year. The Validity Period of TET qualifying certificate for appointment will be decided by the appropriate Government subject to a maximum of seven years for all categories. But there will be no restriction on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring a TET Certificate. A person who has qualified TET may also appear again for improving his/her score.

If it is ONLY ELIGIBILITY TEST then What is the purpose to IMPROVE SCORE OR RE APPEAR in EXAM, 
What is the Purpose of Marks,  What is the purpose of Weighatge.

This Question come in many candidates mind and creates confusion as well. Do they reappear in Exam OR NOT ?

If at some place weighatege of TET marks used in Selection (As it happens in Rajasthan 3rd Grade Teachers Recruitment ), And a candidate not reappear in exam to improve his /her score, then what happens.

CHENNAI: As many as 202 candidates who cleared the Tamil Nadu Teachers Eligibility Test cannot become school teachers after all. 

They were among the less than 1%, of around 6.7 lakh candidates, who cleared the test in July and were disqualified because they did not complete their bachelor degree or diploma in teacher education, a prerequisite for becoming a teacher in Tamil Nadu, said Surjit K Chaudhary, head of the Teachers Recruitment Board that conducts the test. The matter came to light during the verification of certificates of the 2,448 candidates who cleared the test. 

Thirty-seven candidates did not turn up for the verification. The state has set up a committee based on the directions of the Madras high court to allot posts for eligible candidates. Chaudhary said the committee would meet next week to discuss the issue. 

After the dismal failure of teacher aspirants in the TNTET, the state government decided to conduct a supplementary test on October 3. To enable candidates who will be passing out from teacher training institutes to attempt the test this year, the exam has been postponed to October 14. While candidates who sat for the first test in July need not pay to take the supplementary test in October, those applying fresh will have to pay for the test. 

Following complaints from candidates in July about not being able to complete the test within one-and-a-half hours, the state government has decided the test will now be three hours long

Mother of 2 teenagers tops state teachers eligibilty test

Nagapattinam, Aug 25 (PTI) A 39-year old mother of two teenagers from Vedaranyam in the district has come out on top in the state in the Teachers Eligibility Test. P Chitra of Ayakkarankulam village near Vedaranyam secured 142 out of 150 marks in B.Ed category. She specialised in Science and Mathematics. She completed B.Sc in 1993 and after a 15 year gap joined B.Ed in 2008. Thereafter, she kept preparing for various competitive examinations, she told reporters. Her husband is a teacher at Kariyapattinam Government Higher Secondary School. Their elder daughter is pursing her B.E second year and the younger one is in 11th standard. "The hard work I had put in has paid off in a very big way," she said and attributed her success to the cooperation and encouragement of her husband and daughters. A total of 3.88 lakh candidates had taken the test on July 12, the results of which were declared today.

CHENNAI: Raising concerns about the poor calibre of teachers in taking competitive tests, less than 1% of candidates who sat for the Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test on July 12 passed. Candidates attributed the poor result to the lack of time to complete the exam.

"We were told to take extreme caution in colouring the bubbles in the OMR sheet," said Santhosh Raj, a middle school teacher. "This is the first time we are coming across this answer sheet. Just colouring our answer options took a lot of time," he said. Many said they could not find time to study with a full time job. Of the 6.67 lakh candidates, whose answer sheets were evaluated, only 2,448 passed



It was probably for the first time in decades that school teachers in the state were sitting for a competitive test. There was stiff resistance initially, particularly from those with just a couple of years to retire and from those who had registered with employment exchanges and were waiting for a job in a government school.

While more than half of the successful candidates were women, the toppers in each category were also women. Surjit K Chaudhary, chairman of the Teachers Recruitment Board, which conducted the test, said M Priya of Udumalpet topped Paper 1 with 122 out of 150 marks, while P Chitra of Vedaranyam in Nagapattinam topped Paper 2 with 142 of 150, topping the science with mathematics category. Arulvani of Cumbum district topped social studies with 125 of 150 marks.

The Right To Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act mandates that all teachers of Classes 1 to 8 and those aspiring to become teachers clear the test to ensure quality education for students.

The low pass percentage in the TET has forced the TRB to conduct a supplementary test on October 3, which will be declared a holiday for schools. The duration of the examination will be increased from one-and-a-half hour to three hours. The results are expected to be out before the end of October.

TNTET : Many young teachers clear eligibility test

With less than 1 per cent of teachers in the state qualifying for the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) it has come to light that mostly teachers in the age group of 25 to 30 years had cleared the test. Interestingly, no graduate teacher who teaches Class VI to X has cleared the test in the Nilgiris district.

According to data provided by the Teacher Recruitment Board (TRB), of the 1,91,596 teachers who took the test, 1,016 qualified in the age group of 26 to 30 years (0.53 per cent) and 889 qualified in the age of group 25 and below (0.31 per cent).

A total of 121 Secondary Grade teachers from Salem district qualified followed by Dharmapuri with 116 and 99 from Vellore (all educationally backward districts).

Meanwhile Chennai recorded a pass percentage of 0.59 with just 69 out of 11,731 clearing the exam. Only four teachers from the Nilgiris district crossed the pass mark in this category.

The situation is different when it comes to graduate teachers. Seventy teachers passed the test (paper-II Maths and Science) from Cuddalore, 23 from Villupuram and 22 from Dharmapuri.

Here too all three districts are considered as educationally backward whereas the state capital, Chennai, recorded 0.07 per cent (12 out of 16,109).

Surprisingly of the total 2,448 teachers more women (1,680) qualified than their male counterparts (768).

Result is very very poor and only 1% candidate passed, while in CTET 4% (approx) candidates passed  this exam, And in UPTET 45% (approx ) candidates passed in examination.

Supplement exam is going to conduct as many teachers failed in exam. Young candidates shows performance and girls performs better. In both paper I and paper - II, Girls are topper in examination.

According to the Statistics of School Education (2009-10), the total number of teachers in the country from pre-primary to senior secondary is 67.23 lakh. To meet the Pupil Teacher Ratio (PTR) norms specified under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009, the Government has sanctioned 8.17 lakh additional teachers posts between 2010 and 2012 under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) 

The Government has taken several steps for preparing and providing quality teachers. The Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Teacher Education for the XII Plan envisages establishment of District Institutes of Education and Training in all districts created upto March, 2011 and of Block Institutes of Teacher Education for expanding capacity of teacher preparation. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) grants recognition to institutions for starting programmes of teacher education. Several State Governments have also taken steps to expand teacher preparation capacity. In pursuance of the RTE Act, the NCTE has laid down the minimum teacher qualifications, including the requirement of passing the Teacher Eligibility Test as an essential qualification for being eligible for appointment as a teacher. Under the Sarva Shisksha Abhiyan, financial assistance is provided to the State Governments to enable the teachers of class I-VIII not possessing the minimum qualifications to acquire the same by 2015, and for training of in-service teachers for improving quality. 

This information was given by Dr. D. Purandeswari, Minister of State for Human Resource Development in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.

CHENNAI: Candidates who took the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) have kicked up such a fuss about the exam being difficult that the state government plans to give 5-10% additional marks to those who fall short of the required 60%. 

Officials said a final decision would be taken after the TET evaluation is completed. 

About 6.5 lakh aspirants, many of whom are already teachers, appeared for the exam, held for the first time on July 12. There are 25,000 vacant teachers' posts in government schools in Tamil Nadu and only candidates who have cleared the TET, conducted by the Teachers Recruitment Board, qualify for these posts. 

Candidates employed in private or government schools will not be eligible to continue as teachers if they fail to clear the test within two years. 

Following the protests against the TET, the government has decided to conduct the test again in December to give a second chance to those who fail to make the cut.

It shows toughness in examination.

If employed teachers failed in exam and unable to clear in two years ( 2 years) then they will be job will be terminated and expelled from system.

It made a great fear in candidate's mind and they are looking for grace marks if they failed.

I also wrote on similar lines for UPTET 2011 candidates, that candidate can be selected through TET merit. But if government have any doubt on their efficiency then government can allow UPTET 2011 candidates (And for UP Teachers) to appear in next TET examinations, And if they failed two times in examination then necessary action can be taken to maintain quality in education system.

Several teachers who wrote the teacher eligibility test on Thursday expressed disappointment about the level of difficulty of mathematics questions asked.


About 6.5 lakh teachers and teacher aspirants took the test, the first time it is being conducted in Tamil Nadu as the Right to Education Act mandates such an eligibility test for teachers.


Many candidates complained that the question paper was too long, but officials said that it was probably because they were not used to optical mark recognition (OMR) sheets, which took them longer to mark the right answers.


“We were not able to answer most of the questions as it was very tough and time consuming. We felt mathematics to be too tough. We have to keep trying continuously until we clear the examination as it decides our fate,” said Lakshmi, a teacher.


Some elderly teachers faced difficulty in using the OMR sheets. “I’ve never seen an OMR sheet earlier. There was a photocopy of how it would look like and my son who is an engineer now and has attended several competitive examinations taught me how to shade it.


However, I did not expect it to take so much time to shade the bubbles,” said Mangai Senthuram, a 40-year-old teacher.


“If you want good quality teachers we need to have higher level of difficulty in questions. As this is the first time we are conducting this examination we have increased the difficulty level. With teachers feedback we will review the difficulty level,” sources in TRB said.

TRICHY: With the Teachers' Recruitment Board dispatching hall tickets to aspirants for the Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) scheduled on July 12, as many as 600 aspirants thronged the district educational offices (DEO) in Trichy and Musiri educational districts to confirm whether they would actually get their examination tickets on time.

A team of officials led by director of the TRB, A Shankar, visited the DEOs in Trichy and Musiri to meet aspirants in order to clarify their doubts about the examination.

Since the state government conducts the TNTET to shortlist eligible candidates for recruitment as teachers in schools, aspirants are supposed to take up the examination. The tests will be conducted separately for Diploma in Teacher Education (D.Ted) holders (Paper-I) and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) candidates (Paper-II) on July 12. In Trichy, there are three educational districts namely Trichy, Musiri and Lalgudi.

Of the three educational districts, Trichy educational district topped the list with 21,239 eligible candidates including 8,136 for Paper-I and 13,103 for Paper-II. The number of applicants eligible to take up the exam in Musiri are 6,423 including 2,674 (Paper-I) and 3,749 (Paper-II). In Lalgudi, there are 3,468 candidates including 1,508 (Paper-I) and 1,960 (Paper-II).

Earlier, the TRB received filled-in applications through the DEOs of each educational district of the state from March 22 to April 12 this year. But many applications were incomplete. Hence the TRB had to reject 71 applications across the state, of which two applications were rejected from Trichy educational district.

Meanwhile, the TRB started dispatching hall-tickets to aspirants a few days back. As many of them did not receive hall-ticket, they got worried and thronged the DEO to clear their doubts.

When Shankar met the 350-odd aspirants in the Trichy DEO, the candidates asked whether all of them would receive the hall-ticket on time.

In reply, he promised that they would get the hall-ticket before the examination. Otherwise, they could download a confirmation about their eligibility to take up the test from the website. Then, they should affix their photograph which should be attested by a gazetted officer which can then serve as a hall ticket.

In Musiri DEO, more than 250 candidates turned out to meet the director. They were also worried over obtaining hall-tickets. However, Shankar assured them that they would get the hall-tickets before Saturday.

Tamilnadu Teachers Eligibility Test News :
The first Teacher Eligibility Test that was scheduled to be held on June 3 has been postponed to July 12. This is in view of the many representations received by the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) – the nodal agency for the conduct of the Test – that candidates had not got sufficient time to prepare as other recruitments were being held at the same time. The exam is mandatory for secondary grade teachers and graduate assistants appointed for government, aided and unaided institutions on and after August 23, 2010, in accordance with the guidelines framed by the National Council for Teacher Education as part of the Right to Education (RTE) Act.

The TRB, in a press release, has also clarified that those appointed prior to the date of notification issued by the National Council for Teacher Education, which is August 23, 2010, are not required to write TET The website http://trb.tn.nic.in has the list of candidates who have applied for TET. The release also added that those seeking any clarification may approach the TRB with photo copy of their application forms and bank challan for the fees paid.
